The Healing Power of Music

25/06/2022

A good few of you will be at least somewhat aware that the last couple of years have been quite challenging for me in terms of my health. And there aren't many things that are able to distract me from some of the issues I'm dealing with, but music is most definitely one thing that is guaranteed to work some magick.

About ten days ago, Jonny spent his precious birthday money on a new 'cello for me. I've not had one since I was about 18 and I've really been feeling the urge to get my hands on one for a while now.
I may not be able to sit and play for long, whether it's at the piano or 'cello, but for those 5-10 mins I am focused on only the music.
Listening to music is always a great second choice, of course, but nothing compares, if you're able, to making some noise yourself.

You don't have to be the world's most accomplished musician to get huge benefits from the power of sound. Shaking a tambourine, banging a drum, or chanting are all powerful ways of releasing pent up or stagnant energy from the body and mind. And whilst I'm not able to sing in the choir that I love right now because I can't sit or stand for two hours of rehearsal each week, I can pick up an instrument and scratch out a few notes on the strings or tickle the ivories for ten minutes at a time. That's all it takes sometimes, to raise your frequency.

Music isn't the only option though.....

What's YOUR distraction from life's challenges?
No matter what's going on in the everyday, what makes you forget, even just for a moment?
Do you paint? Run? Chop wood?!

I'd love to hear what lifts your vibration. Leave me a comment and let me know!

Much love

P.S. I do look a little crazed in this picture, but I was very excited about getting this instrument back into my life. ;)
