Pets, Fireworks, and Crystals!

Can crystals help calm our pets during stressful situations?
There's a good chance they can.

After all, crystals create calm within us, even with all of our human doubts about energy. Animals have far fewer blocks to energy, which makes it far more likely to work for them than it does for many of us!

Which crystals are the best?

There are fewer obstructions and negative life experiences that animals have been through to complicate matters. That's not to say that there are zero past traumas. After all, animals don't always get the best treatment before they find a loving home. But, as a rule, in the majority of circumstances, animals will be much less mentally and emotionally damaged creatures than us humans, which makes it easier to offer a selection of recommendations.

My first choice, and my crystal/mineraloid of the week, is Black Obsidian.
Obsidian can de-stress, removes anxiety, and grounds the bearer in the present. It soaks up fears like a sponge. Attach a piece to your animal's collar if they have one, or create a gem elixir by charging their drinking water with it.

The second choice, again, another anxiety-busting crystal, is Hematite.
With the same sort of grounding and calming energy that Black Obsidian has, Hematite will also help those pets that are a little anxious even without the addition of fireworks. An elixir is useful, but do avoid putting this one directly into the water. Use an indirect method to charge.

My third recommendation would be any type of Calcite.
This one definitely wants to stay out of the water if you're making an elixir, but my suggestion would be to massage your animal with a tumblestone or thumbstone as you comfort them. This is a great way to bring Calcite's relaxing, calming energy directly to your pet, along with your support.

How to use them.....

Be careful when creating elixirs. If you're placing a crystal directly in the water bowl, there's the potential risk of them swallowing the crystal along with the water. The indirect method is always best, especially if you're new to mixing crystals with water. The crystal can be put under the bowl rather than in it too, so they're still getting fresh water, rather than having the water charged for an hour or more before serving.

Placing a crystal on a pet's collar is a great option, as it'll be near the area where stress is causing the biggest issue - the head and the heart. Be sure to secure it properly though.

And, as mentioned in the Calcite option earlier, massaging your pet with the crystal is, for me, the very best option. Our pets need to know they're being cared for, and that they're safe. Giving them cuddles will no doubt be their preference, so make use of that, grab your crystal and just give them some love. Avoid clusters! Do I really need to say that? I'm sure I didn't really.
